Game suggestions

A couple of thoughts have just occured to me, whether it would be possible for companies to start advert contracts, or to have vehicles available for private hires. I don't know how the logistics for this would be done however, but what do people think?

one off private hires are out of the question im afraid, it was trialled rather unsuccessfully on the old game and caused one of the many 'fatal' arguments.
however in the future when i have time away from school and homework, a coaching side of the game will be introduced where we will have national express contracts, under a game branding, being offered up as tenders. well also have private hire contracts up for offering such as regular weekly transport for silly things like schools to swimming baths, of morris dancers, OAP club contracts etc etc. of course we will be offering contracts for your side of the pond revolving around ferry links in partnership will liverpool based companies.

Advertising on buses is something that i was going to launch a few weeks back, however that wasnt possible due to time not allowing, however this is something that will be launched very soon with fixed payments for certain advertising methods.

Certainly has answered my questions. Wasn't in the previous game however I could understand how 'complications' could arise with private hires. Don't go out of you're way to create IOM contracts, I don't want to be a pain!

I feel that some more costs need to be introduced as at the moment each company is getting stupid amounts of money and a few buying x amount of new vehicles. Wrexham Transport alone earns £33,600 per day, which is not a lot compared to some companies on the game, but take that into the real world and it’s a stupidly high amount!

I was thinking along the lines of driver’s wages and fuel cost. Not a complicated system, but just something to help curb the amount of money companies have.

For drivers it could be based upon an hourly wage on a route/PVR. The same base rate would apply to all companies and routes. So say a route which ran 08:00 until 20:00 with a PVR of 3, wage at £8/hour, so £24/hour, so £288 for the day.

Fuel calculated per mile, so say at 20p a mile, on a 4 mile round trip would be 80p that journey, times that by the amount of times per bus per day, so the fuel cost would be (PVR = 3, 10 times each a day): 1 Bus = £8, full route = £24.

With that example a route with a PVR of 3 earns £900/day, take those costs into account (£312) and it still leaves £588 "profit"

Those figures are just random, but give an idea as to what I am on about.

Personally rather than 'per mile' I'd charge fuel at per single journey

i see what you mean mate. however it would be hard to put into place, especially for bigger companies like mine. as DMN says, it will ave to be calculated using another factor rather than mileage, possibly PVR. leave it with me, and il try to outline something by the end of the week.

Very true indeed. I have a hell of a lot of buses sitting there doing nothing as well! When these Streetlites arrive, i'll have a good think about what i'm doing!

I don’t know if it’s just me, but whenever I try to get to the last page on the Used Bus Sales thread, I get a white page saying: "You can return to the index..." and after a few seconds defaults back to the home page. I know it not a suggestion, but wasn’t anywhere else really suitable for this post.

I have just attached a picture of the problem.

Edit - for some reason it gives me that URL when I click on any link to the last page, I can only view it if I manually edit the URL, hopefully it might resolve itself when it goes onto Page 3!

Alright Garsty, never seen that before mate. It doesn't look like a very official page aswell so I'd be careful, might be me being paranoid but you know how it is these days, people hijack your bloody internet details whenever they can!
As long as you can access the pages you need to by some means, thats the most important thing. It seems that error is on forumotions side of things, doesn't seem to be anything wrong our end!

I've never seen that page either Garsty. I'd perform a scan on your computer just to be on the safe side.

Something has just occurred to me, why couldn't the game have it's own version of National Express! Where companies bid for certain contracts etc. I know it was thought of on the old game, but the idea was just abandoned! I for one would be happy to run this part of the Forum if it is wanted!

Not forgetten mate Iv not been able to devote alot of time to the game currently due to numerous circumstances. Once I have time to sort everything out, this will be the main new feature added

That would be a big help mate. Could do with just a used coaches catalogue first, new coaches can be added in on the new buses catalogue when the need arises
