Re: Funding Thread
Liver Travel would like to apply for funding for 5 Optare Tempo's. We would like 50% of these funded, we can pay the other 50%.
These vehicles are needed due to the aging vehicles used on route 7, and passengers threatening to use one of our Competitor's services.
Thanks

Re: Funding Thread
The vehicles currently used in service are:
Dennis Dart SLF
Marshall Capital
1999 - 12 Years
They're condition is the condition of any old bus really, they provide an awful ride for passengers and are constantly breaking down leading to even older buses replacing them!
They're LF but not DDA compliant (Only one buggy bay)

Re: Funding Thread
can you give me details of the route (frequency, other routes (by your company or other companies) that run along that route, the roads on the route (A roads, B roads, country roads etc), and how the vehicles are driven along the route.

Re: Funding Thread
The route runs every 30 minutes with a PVR of 5, I believe LMT also run a 7 along the route using newer, bigger vehicles.
It's a mixture, it starts going around residential estates in Huyton which is hard on the suspension thanks to the Speed Bumps. Then it's a A road which the vehicles have to get to 40MPH on, which is hard for a 12 year old engine! Then it's some hard roads around Broad Green Hospital which are speed bumps again and finally the route goes along Edge Lane to Liverpool City Centre.

Re: Funding Thread
We'd be willing to offer you £10,000 on behalf of Merseytravel which would go towards giving the current vehicles a full refurbishment. We'd not be willing to fund brand new vehicles due to the fact LMT running the route using 'better vehicles', therefore there is still some coverage along that corridor.
Another option is that you enter a QBP with LMT on that route, upon which DfT would be willing to give you £250,000 of funding towards new vehicles.
Thanks

Re: Funding Thread
We would now not like to go for the £10,000 and instead take the £250,000 QBP funding as we have now entered a QBP with LMT. This makes the total amount payable to Liver Travel as £347,500.
