Wrexham Transport latest account and also our latest fleetlist

To further enhance our Shropshire operations we have added an extra 3 Scania Omnicity Articulated buses to our Park and Ride fleet, these are identical to the other 6 already operating and will increase the PVR for each site to 3 buses, running at every 15 minutes. We will evaluate after the Christmas Holiday period if this increase can be sustained.

We also currently have an Optare Tempo demonstrator on loan and this will be used to help determine what buses we place an order for in the New Year.

Today we have had the approval of our new depot in Caernarfon and the new outstation in Dolgellau, both of which will operate under 'North Wales Transport' as 'Wrexham Transport' would look a bit odd!

The Dolgellau outstation will help with the running of CC1 (Wrexham-Barmouth) as we have been unable to fix any problems quickly which have occurred at that end of the route and it will also operate some local services.

The Caernarfon depot will operate local routes around Caernarfon and routes which are yet to be developed.

Currently there are no buses at either, but with the acquisition of 4 59 plates Optare Solos, two will be divided between each and used on services between themselves and Pwllheli. These buses will enter service once they have been prepared for service here in Wrexham. Some of the CC1 buses (Plaxton Centro) will be moved from Caego to Dolgellau, so the route can be operated from both ends and a spare vehicle will also be moved to reflect this.

Wrexham Transport invests £2.5 Million in local Wrexham bus services

Yesterday Wrexham Transport placed an order worth £2.5 Million with Alexander Dennis. The order is for 22 9.3M Enviro 200, with B32F seating.

Wrexham Transports Managing Director had this to say:
"Here at Wrexham Transport we have grown as a company but still realise that it was thanks to our passengers here in Wrexham that it was possible for us to become a market leader in the way we have and as a result these 22 brand new buses will be used on local routes around Wrexham, including the WX1/WX2 links, giving our passengers the best public transport experience they would have ever had."

He also added:
"We are not just replacing buses, but have ordered an extra 4 on top of what was needed to increase frequencies on routes. This will ensure that every part of Wrexham has the experience of using these brand new buses"

They will be delivered during March/April this year and will enter service either at the end of April or beginning of May with some celebrations at Wrexham Bus Station.

Our newly converted ALX400 Open Top vehicles will be renumbered out of the Double Decker series of 7XX into a new 10XX series.

So the new fleetnmumbers are as follows:
1001 LV52 HHB (Was 704)
1002 LV52 HHK (Was 705)
1003 LV52 HHL (Was 706)
1004 LV52 HHX (Was 701)
1005 LV52 HHY (Was 702)
1006 LV52 HHZ (Was 703)

1001 and 1002 will be used in Shrewsbury
1003 and 1004 will be used in Caernarfon
1005 and 1006 will be used in Aberysthyth

A fleet reshuffle will commence tomorrow with a large number of changes:

The Wrexham based Wright Pulsars have been moved to Oswestry, which in turn has displaced 5 MCV Evolutions to Bangor and 4 ELC Esteems to Shrewsbury. Route 104 which used these buses in Wrexham is now using Enviro 400s. This has caused a PVR reduction in Oswestry as part of our review program. The Bangor and Shrewsbury allocations are for new routes to be formed.

Wrexham has swapped its collection of Scannia Bendy-Buses with Shrewsbury’s ALX400s, both sets are on 05 plates and means that all the Scannia Bendy-Buses are based in Shrewsbury as 512 has also moved back from Aberystwyth.

Our new Enviro 200s will start to arrive at Wrexham within the next 4 weeks and will displace a collection on 4 MCV Evolutions to Bangor, 8 slim-line Solos to Caernarfon and 6 Solos to Shrewsbury. The Bangor and Caernarfon allocations will be for new routes whilst the Shrewsbury allocation will display our oldest buses in the fleet, the Plaxton MPDs, which will then be offered for sale at the start of April.

Wrexham will also see 8 new Wright deckers for Route 101, more of these will be purchased over the coming month to push out the ALX400s.

The recently acquired Cadets for Caernarfon and Bangor are currently being overhauled prior to entering service next month.

4 55-Plate solos will also be purchased for use as spare vehicles, hopefully in the next few weeks.

Our 02/03 Plate MPDs have also been converted to driver trainers, 1 at each of Wrexham, Shrewsbury and Dolgellau. Larger vehicles for this purpose will be converted in the future.
