After a successful auction on Friday the company has acquired 35 more vehicles. This includes 6 Dennis Dart Paladins, which have now been designated to Driver Training and staff buses, designated to each of the three Northern Link Depots. Our purchases also included 8 2010 Optare Versas, 3 of these are to be branded for the EXPRESS LINK X3 service. EXPRESS LINK services X1/X2/X3 are all to be launched tomorrow, although the Versas will not be in use until the end of the week. Because of this two Volvo B7 ALX400s have temporarily been re-based in Blackpool for the X3.

Also we would like to announce that the company's Official name has been re-branded as Vannin and Northern Bus Services, owing to the continuing expansion of Northern Link. Additionally as of Wednesday 23 the Northern Link main depot and Head office will be relocationg to Preston Frenchwood depot. This is more centralised for our operations and also our largest operating base and so we feel it is more appropriate.

The DfT have confirmed funding for 6 new Optare Versas to join the 8 second hand vehicles stationed in Balckpool. This is particularly because of an increasing number of break downs and faults with our 1999 Dennis Dart Marshall Capitals. Today V628 DVU (f/n 231) broke down whilst stopped at Gynn Square on route 210, ending up replaced by one of the Olympian ECWs. Once the new Versas are deliviered in roughly 2 weeks, 5 Capitals will remain in service in Blackpool (largely for route 217), the fate of the other 4 is undecided.

Much Appreciated for the awards. There have been more technical difficulties yesterday, troublesome Dart V628 DVU, failed again on the 210, quite early in the day. It ended up with Express Link branded Versa 312 (MX60 EDL) replacing it for the day. Shortly after sister Dart V635 DVU broke down on route 217, replaced once again by one of the Olympians. Also last night there was a disturbance on route 230 (21:45 ex- Bolton) worked by Dennis Trident ALX400 172 (X391 NNO), which resulted in an upper deck window being brocken. The bus is currently out of service awaiting repair.

December 24: Regular daytime service, service suspended between 17:00 and 19:00 (details on document)

December 25: No service, excluding 208 and 226. Discussions with Blackpool and Preston Hospitals mean we are running a limited daytime service of these routes.

December 26: Limited Sunday service (details on document)

December 27: Sunday Service

December 28: Regular Service

December 29: Regular Service

December 30: Regular Service

December 31: Saturday Service, suspended between 19:00 - 21:00 (details on document)

Quite a few developements for the company. Last night during the company aquired 67 buses, 47 of which are step entry. These will largely be used on school services in the near future. We have also made a start at a fleet replacement programme, starting with older Darts based in Blackpool and the Isle of Man. Dependent on the number of school contracts secured, spare step entrance buses will also filter in to these plans. Also our base in Bolton is continuing to expand, so we have established a depot in Manchester (Cheetham Hill) and services will start from here in January.
