tfbg2011006: Vannin Link and Northern Link

This weeks updates:

Taking into consideration the 'wintery' conditions forecast for the north tomorrow, Northern Link are warning passengers in advance to expect possible delays, particularly on service onto higher areas. No services are being suspended to start with, all services running as normal. However if heavy snowfall or ice does affect routes at any point in the day, they maybe suspended at short notice. This largely affects Northern Link services, as the Isle of Man is only forecast rain.

An interesting week, commercial services started from Ormskirk depot on Monday, mostly with Marshall Capitals and Wright Crusaders. The first part of fleet replacement is now almost complete with only the older Optare Solos to be replaced now in Blackpool. The aim is by the end of the month to have all 25 Plaxton Pointer Darts moved out from Manchester as the next part of the programme.

Tomorrow will be a busy day with the start of operations from Burnley depot. Next week we also be in the process of reviewing the route network for Vannin Link, with possible new routes and changes to some PVRs. Here are this weeks updates:

Accounts and fleet up to date to last night:

Tomorrow sees the delivery of a new type to the fleet, the first of 6 ADL Trident Enviro 400s. The vehicle is going to be delivered to Preston depot where it to undergo a few trials. Once all 6 are delivered they will be moved to Blackpool, this will see a fleet shuffle with Versas moving to Preston and firther moves to be highlighted at the time. After trials of the first vehicle, the company is considering ordering a further 16 buses for routes 220 and 233.
